So far I have only had good experience with ING here in the Netherlands! Great app in English, always helpful when in the branch and now the cherry: I recently was stupid enough to fall for a credit fraud. ING customer service over chat told me quickly whom to call, they told me what to fill out and where to send it in via email and I just got my money back. So I can not confirm any negative experiences! Until now I have had a great experience from day 1 in NL!

ING have an incredibly old fashioned security system where when you want to change your address or phone number they have to post you an activation code. Obviously if you move to another country at any point this can take forever, especially if the post gets lost. There seems to be no alternative to this. If one letter goes missing they have to send you another (ad infinitum). Avoid at all costs. My experience is that ABN AMRO provide a much better service (they supply a card reader to ensure that changes to your details are made securely wherever you are). I only wish I had gone with them.

I´ve never had any trouble with this bank - until someone in an office I visited "accidentally" signed me up for a house insurance. "Oh, don´t worry, we won´t start deducting money unless you sign and mail some papers to us...". Ok, so far so good. I thought. So, think I was surprised when all of a sudden money started disappearing? Oh yes. Called customer service and - lucky me - got to speak to Kyran (hope I spelled it right). This guy is not only super friendly and easy to talk to, he also knows what he is doing. He found my details thanks to my phone number (please, ING, let this guy show everyone in CC how to do that - and use it!), and that saved us both a lot of time, time that was better used solving my case. I feel confident that this will be fixed in the best way possible (thanks to this guy). If not, the bank needs to upgrade their routines and the English in some of their employees, and refund me anyway since I never signed up for this. Customer service always gets 5 stars, because they´re all lovely to talk to. The bank as a whole... Hmm, a 3. Neutral. All in all it´s a 4.

Going Borderless? Your questions on TransferWise’s newest service, answered.

TransferWise is one of the best money transfer and currency exchange providers we work with. We love their mid-market exchange rates, wide availability, low fees, and easy-to-use services. In fact, we wondered, could they get any better? It turns out they can. In May 2017 they announced a brand new service, the “TransferWise Borderless Account.” […]
