Don't trust HSBC credit card eligibility, Its nothing ONLY rubbish, I try to use it and they said they happy to offer me a credit card but when I submitted an application they declined it!!!!!!! SO what the hell on earth you have Eligibility checker for!!! AVOID AVOID

My partner has banked for many years with HSBC and had his own personal account manager. He tried to contact his manager earlier in the year to be told he no longer had a personal manager. He is owed £50,000 of his money. He closed the account and informed them where to send the cheque and in what name, Despite frantic telephone calls literally dozens of them he was told the cheque was sent to his old address. We now live abroad, He contact them to be told that he would have to deposit the cheque in the account of the name on the cheque. It ceased to trade sometime previous. he flew back to the UK recently and spent ages with a Manager but to no avail. How do we get OUR MONEY? Do not use this incompetent bank. what's the next option the Ombudsman!!!! More time and effort

I recently switched banks to HSBC. I must say, it's been about a month now, I have had several interactions and I have been consistently delighted with the service. They seem to want to do everything possible to help. I think it was a great decision to switch both my business and personal accounts and look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship.

My money has been in HSBC Bank 7424 13th Ave Brooklyn NY for 40+ years. I spoke to Mr. Renelle about water damaged money. Mr Renelle asked me to open envelope with damaged money and said "Can't take money because can't put thru machine". When I asked if this was HSBC Policy on damaged money, he replied "it is up to the manager and I am the Manager". He told me go to Federal Reserve Bank to exchange. HSBC Policy on damged money Bills must be more then 1/2 and numbers can be clearly read. All my water damaged was completely whole where number could be read easily. Summary: Manager Raymond Renelle went against HSBC Policy and then gave false statement about Federal Reserve Bank. Federal Reserve Bank only deals with institutions, therefore, I couldn't bring my money there. There was No Reason for Manager Renelle not to take money. Went to Bank a few blocks away and my money was taken. Mr Renelle in one conversation accomplished the following: l. Angry when telling me I am the Manager. 2.Doesn't know Federal Reserve Bank is for institutions. 3.Doesn't know that water damaged money Can't be put thru machine. 4.Lost a customer for HSBC

We have nothing but praise for the HSBC premier call centre which is nothing short of excellent. The staff are courteous,helpful and competent and my Husband and myself think they are the best part of banking with HSBC. We have never had a negative experience when dealing with them and prefer to phone the call centre for transactions than doing them through online banking. May HSBC keep this great service for its customers and not move to online banking only ,especially as they have closed many branches .

The new website is the absolute worst. So many things I can no longer do, include read any messages they have sent responding to my queries. I am now driving around and giving people cheques, as I cannot set them up for interac, I cannot import transactions to Quicken as I can only get a pdf! Will have to individually type each expense into my software. I have requested a call back, which has not come, and cannot request another as they have recorded the initial request. I can't believe how badly this site fails on the most basic requirements. Super disgusted.

I really do want to warn people about the poor service from this organisation . And I have. Ever been moved to complain about any other company ever . I am in the process of closing my account and reporting them to trading standards . Of course complaining is as difficult as anything else you try to do with HSBC . They advertise loan borrowing rates falsely and for no reason increase rates from 3.3% to 9% . This is without any explanation or know reasons . When you try to complain the staff just don't care as they know you will probably give up as the queuing time just to complain is 40 minutes . Reporting them to trading standards has no impact as they have such a bad reputation - truly awful company that verges on being unethical. Please do not waste your time with this bank .

Letter they sent does the tell you what you need but it can't be anything from HSBC or first direct even though would confirm 100% this was correct address. I wouldn't mind but really hsbc how many fines have you had for various irregularities??? Wasted 2 half days of my live and money tying to sort this HSBC wake up you are a joke

When you ring them and for the last year!!!!!!: you get this message " We are currently experiencing high call volumes and customers are currently waiting in excess of 15 minutes...... sometimes you get 20 minutes..... 40 minutes for their call to be answered" If you love being kept on hold, listen to empty promises and don't mind being unappreciated even though customer for over 10 years... then this is the bank for you. Hard to believe they are a global bank!! Switch whilst you can, I did, best day ever :)

They are shocking. Worst customer service I have ever known. Press one for this; press two for that... then all over again.. then an uninterested member of stall who goes out of their way NOT to help no matter what service you need. I cannot believe these people are still in business. One call to find out a simple piece of information took nearly an hour and I still got told to go to a branch!! I dropped them and went elsewhere.

Mortgage loan was approved via the online application process. Besides being really slow in terms of getting an approval and mortgage offer issued, no catastrophe. Until you want to change something on your approved mortgage - we wanted to amend the sales price and reduce the loan amount before pay out. Impossible. Genuinely impossible. At this stage one has no access to the online application anymore, so you're dealing with multiple, incompetent call centres. I have spent 8hrs 46mins (and I do not exaggerate) on telephone calls with HSBC over the last 3 days trying to fix the problem. We are still in limbo. We are now (just before completion) looking for a new mortgage provider as the mortgage loan is genuinely in limbo - I cannot do anything online and the various call centres cannot fix. AVOID HSBC. Recommend HSBC to your worst enemy!

Used this bank for years and will continue using it but feel like because of their notorious stability in a turbulent financial world they can oppress their customers and not give a hoot. Their online security is excessive and using the digital secure key is unhelpful as if you get locked out at the other side of the world at an hour outside call centre opening times then you are screwed. I would prefer to have the option on mobile to log onto mobile banking OR digital secure key and not merge the two. HSBC: remember the world banks at their time not yours, in such a competitive market you should step up to this demand (ideally without using an Indian call centre)

Thank God we only have a credit card with HSBC, their customer service is appalling, I don't think we have ever called and waited less than 30 minuets, then you get directed to their "friendly customer services" who are based in India which would be fine if they could speak fluent english, the people I've spoken to don't. They could reduce the frustration a little by giving their customers a free phone number as they get paid with evey call from the premium rate numbers but I wouldn't dream of cutting into a banks proficient margin! I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with the service I have received from HSBC.

I use HSBC for UK banking and they are good enough but they claim to be the worlds local bank but when I go abroad they are terrible. it is expensive to use my card and withdraw money and they give a terrible exchange rate. I get much better international service from Metro Bank and they are a tiny bank only based in London!

if you are an international company wanting to open a UK bank account for a UK business, don't bother with HSBC. They need every director of the newco to present themselves in person at a UK branch. Typically such subsidiaries have local as well as international directors and its unrealistic for international directors to fly to the UK just to meet a branch official. Its bizarre.

HSBC are keeping customers on hold for over 25 minutes. that is you'll be paying whilst you're on hold and also bear in mind they say you should use their automated service. but it doesn't always work.its been like this for a long time. they obviously cant get the staff to anwser the calls or perhaps aren't willing to pay staff to do so. so you'll pay instead.

I frustrating locked myself out of my online bank account, had also forgotten my online security code, needed to reset all my security questions, AND get a new a debit card as my puppy had eaten it. The call centres didn't sound like they were in England, however, the two staff I spoke to (different departments for different tasks) were both polite, friendly, and helpful. I was back in my account within 7 minutes and a new con tactless card has been sent out. All in all a good experience with a call centre!
