CD do not listen to clients I was asked to supply 2 months bank statements to prevent money laundering When I question how would you seeing my internet and phone bill help you in this matter as funds were from a Spanish solicitor I got no reply except compliance Having been asked for copies of my passport and the said bank statements.I sent them only for a request now not for my passport but 3 months bank statements.I phoned cd to discover the customer service girl couldn’t open the e mail. She eventually did open it to discover it was all there and she would phone me back shortly. 2 hours later I phoned them to discover they are awaiting compliance a department you can’t speak to If you like waiting at the end of a phone and chasing for answers use cd if not like me Use another company .Having sold houses in Spain and having numerous estate agent contacts in Costa Blanca I will give be you the same advice DO NOT USE CD

Maybe my e mail says it all. I am just about to stop using your services for my monthly transfer of UK pounds to Euros. I was simply going to do this without you knowing the reason why. However, your self promoting and smug e mail to me trumpeting your award for Consumer Champion of the Year, has prompted me to write to you, rather than quietly stopping to use your disappointing currency transfer service and transferring my custom elsewhere. Below is a section of your communication " We’re pleased to announce our most recent award, having won the title of "Consumer Champion of the Year" at the MoneyAge 2017 awards. The award reflects our mission: to make your money transfers simple. That doesn’t happen unless we put you first, from start to finish. We hope you'll share our pride in the award, which is contested across the whole personal finance industry (including banking, insurance, pensions and more. At the start of October my monthly transfer failed to appear in my Spanish bank account. Not surprisingly it was in yours ! I called your trader, who had forgotten to do this 2 days after it should have been done. A mistake ? No, the second time this has happened this year. On both occasions I was embarrassed by this, having to re organise some of my personal transactions. I am often away in various parts of the world away from my family when this monthly transfer should be made. Had I not been at home and not noticed this latest error, I would have been left severely embarrassed and being cited with significant banking charges. So, my money transfers were not made simple and you did not put me first from start to finish and I do not share your self-congratulating pride. At your invitation via your e mail, will rate you on Trustpilot........ I was disappointed after the first lapse in transfer and was prepared overlook this. The second time was unacceptable and so I am prepared to vote with my feet. When I spoke to the Customer Service gentleman, he offered a £50 Amazon voucher as an apology for my inconvenience, time etc. ONLY IF I DIDN'T POST ON TRUSTPILOT !! There you have it. I have voted with my feet.

Many thanks to Karla Teuma in Marbella for her outstanding service, patience and willingness to help,during the whole process of selling a property in Spain. Not only did she explain all the procedures for currency transfer very clearly and answered all my queries, but she offered her assistance in various ways, to ensure that the sale went smoothly. Thanks also to her colleague Jayne in Tenerife, who stepped into the breach when the electronics in Karla’s office failed and Ignacio for collecting and depositing the cheque just before my departure from Spain. The service provided by Currencies Direct is second to none and I would certainly recommend them.

£626 loss due to CD not being able to help rectify a simple error

Agreed a contract on 14th June 2017 to Exchange €47,182.23 for £41,315.44 but received only £40,688.68. I made an error by sending €’s to CD's...Read more

Agreed a contract on 14th June 2017 to Exchange €47,182.23 for £41,315.44 but received only £40,688.68. I made an error by sending €’s to CD's sterling Account at Barclays instead of their Euro account, also at Barclays. This resulted in Barclays changing €’s to £’s at the normal bank rate giving a £626.76 loss. CD were aware of the error within a few minutes of the transaction & contacted me for verification of the error, which I confirmed within an hour. CD immediately requested Barclays to rectify the error, by cancelling the transaction or retuning the original amount of €’s to the sender. It took from 14th June to 19th for Barclays to give CD an answer, that there was nothing that they could do. CD had chased them several times during the period After numerous requests by myself to CD for compensation, they refused to provide anything. This means that either CD or Barclays gained £626.76. So do not expect CD to be effective in helping rectify a simple error or providing compensation!

I honestly have had my hand held every step of the way with CD in Javea. Both Karen Clements and Jane Scammell have been absolute gems. I could not have wished for better support from Karen whilst at the Notary (completion of sale) and at the bank following the meeting, and Jane has been my rock in keeping me informed every step of the way on transactions and ensuring the money was received into my UK bank with a tight deadline. Paul Malton, Mojacar Branch has been most helpful and reassuring as have everyone we have spoken to both in the UK and Spain. If you make the decision to move abroad then I would not hesitate to say contact them for advise on transferring currency.

Everything started off well and was impressed with the service. Then I tried to make a really small international transfer from a larger balance of USD I had exchanged some months ago. The country was in the list of available recipients but after the transaction i was contacted to say they couldn't facilitate payments to this country and did i want the contract cancelled and the money returned. I agreed expecting the small amount to be returned to my USD balance. Instead they cancelled the entire trade from months ago and refunded me back all of my Pounds for my entire USD balance! coincidentally the FX rate had worsened quite a lot so i'm out of pocket! I agree this may have been a misunderstanding but they then refused to make it right and honour the original FX rate. They clearly made money by unwinding the original trade and probably would never have offered to cancel the contract if the FX rate had gone the other way. Anyway all is well that ends well as due to my dissatisfaction I discovered transfer wise which has better exchange rates and generally significantly cheaper to send money internationally i have found....that said i'm quite a loyal person and would have stayed with currencies direct for the sake of a few quid if they hadn't screwed me over.

We use the company for our regular transfers to Spain and are very happy with the service. Recently I wanted to make a one off payment to the USA, but was unable to activate an online account which is normally required for a new payee. In trying to resolve the issue I have been speaking with Germaine Boselli who has been extremely helpful and the transfer has now been made, by-passing their usual procedures. Germaine has been a pleasure to deal with.
