I made a transaction with the Western Union. The transaction on the website showed transfer successful but the receiver never got the funds. I followed-up, the first response was it was paid. I kept getting the same response and I kept asking for a proof of deposit. Finally after scores of chasers Western Union ACCEPTED the money was not paid. They asked to me to take cash. I asked to refund to the same account from which it was paid. I am chasing on this for two months now. Every time I get a response that it cannot be paid due to a "Technical Issue". What? What exactly? A funds transfer business cannot transfer to bank account due to a technical issue for two months? Seriously? Then the worst part, instead of resolving a genuine complaint, the operator suggested that I should complaint to the regulator! Seriously? Is that your business philosophy?

Ich bin seit Jahren Kunde von Western Union! Heute aber war ich zum letzten Mal auf dieser Seite: Ich habe eine kleine Summe in de Dominikanische Republik gesendet und via Sofortüberweisung bezahlt! Klarna wollte mich nach Eingabe der Bankdaten wieder mit Western Union verbinden- Fehlermeldung. Ich habe keine MTCN und keine Email bekommen- aber mein Konto wurde belastet! Nach einem Anruf bei WU wurde mir von einem sehr schlecht Deutsch sprechenden Mitarbeiter mit starkem polnischen Dialekt mitgeteil, das die Zahlung storniert wurde! Den Grund konnte er mir nicht nennen... Ich könne jetzt erneut eine Transaktion starten. Habe ich gemacht- mit gleichem Ergebnis. Keine MTCN, keine Email, keine Rückverbindung durch Klarna nach Eingabe der Bankdaten! Insgesamt musste ich 5mal (!!!) anrufen- Ergebnis: Geld vorerst weg, keine Überweisung, 3mal Quittungen gemailt. keine Antwort. Seitdem WU die Homepage erneuert hat, funktioniert es nicht mehr! Man kann sich nicht mehr auf WU verlassen...

Ridiculous fee increase. I was pretty happy with Western Union until they raised a fee from $5 to $81 for sending $1000 bank-to-bank to Poland. Curiously, a fee for sending cash is $26! It doesn't make sense, but help person and chat person confirmed it. Obviously, I will not use Western Union any longer.

Ridiculous fee increase. I was pretty happy with Western Union until they raised a fee from $5 to $81 for sending $1000 to Poland bank-to-bank transaction. Curiously, a fee for sending cash is only $26. Obviously, I will not use Western Union any longer.

Absolut nicht zufriedenstellend. Ich habe ein Onlinekonto bei WU erstellt und Geld gesendet. Auf dem Internetportal wird man darüber informiert, dass die Prüfung des Transfers 30min dauert und dass man nichts veranlassen muss. Nach 3 Stunden ohne Antwort, wurde ich langsam nervös. Hotline war ständig besetzt, so dass ich eine Ausweichnummer wählte. Als ich endlich verbunden war, wurden meine gesamten Angaben auf Richtigkeit überprüft. Alles was ich eingegeben hatte, wurde nochmal abgefragt. Da gab es keine Abweichung und am Ende sagte man mir es gibt Sicherheitsbedenken ich solle doch zum Schalter vor Ort gehen. Das habe ich dann auch gemacht. Am Schalter vor Ort erfuhr ich, dass es generell nicht möglich ist Geld von Indien aus zu versenden. Man kann nur Geld empfangen. Aber nicht senden. Das haben die doch vorher gewusst. So eine unkompetente Bearbeitung habe ich noch nie erlebt. Warum lässt man mich im Glauben, dass ich Geld versenden kann, obwohl es gar nicht möglich ist. Im Internetportal gibt es auch keinen Hinweis dazu. Transfer in die ganze Welt. Damit wird geworben und der Verbraucher für doof verkauft. Hinzu kam, dass durch den beabsichtigten Transfer, der beim Kreditkartenunternehmen als Barauszahlung erfasst wird, der dementsprechende Betrag weniger am Automaten ausgezahlt werden kann. Soll heißen, wenn ich beim Kreditkarteninstitut einen Kreditrahmen von 1000,-€ Barauszahlung im Ausland habe und 800,-€ online versenden will, dann kann ich im Ausland nur noch 200,-€ mit meiner Kreditkarte abheben. Danach gibts kein Bargeld mehr im Ausland. Selbst wenn die Transaktion scheitert, der Rahmen für Barauszahlung ist dann erschöpft und man ist selbst auf Hilfe angewiesen. Weil ich von WU keine Hilfe bekam wollte ich meinen Account löschen. Aber das scheint gar nicht zu gehen. Per E-Mail erhalte ich dazu keine Antwort. Und im Account selber ist keine Schaltfläche vorhanden, um eine Löschung vorzunehmen. Hauptsache man hat erstmal die Daten vom Kunden. Vielleicht braucht sie ja noch ein anderer befreundeter Dienst. Ich kann an dieser Stelle nur PayPal empfehlen. Da hatte ich noch nie Probleme. Aber es dauert eben etwas länger. Aber lieber länger warten als gar nichts erreichen.

Jake #894 was horrible!!!!!! I transferred money out of the country this morning and inadvertently added the person's husbands last name which isn't her legal name (Honduras). I called to ask if he could edit the husbands last name so she could pick the money up, he told me NO I would have to cancel and redo the transaction. I advised I made the mistake about 4 months ago and thought I had updated her name in my account and they had no issues editing the name. He said that is not the policy. I asked for a supervisor 10 times 25 min's later after asking for his name for 8 mins and given the silent treatment the phone begins to ring. And a supervisor answers the phone, this is not to say 15 min's prior to he said no supervisors were available and one would call me back. THe supervisor Loreal advised this is something he could have simply processed with no issue. HE IS RUDE AND SHOULD NOT BE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I’m currently homeless and my friend was sending me money to get me home. He put payout location to be North Dakota and in the system it came up as Florida. They claimed they couldn’t help because I wasn’t the sender. First of all y’all need to change that crap. Especially being able to change the location. If I’m receiving the money I should be able to change the location when YOU WESTERN UNION GET IT WRONG. The receipt said it was sent to North Dakota yet in the system they have it listed as freaking Florida. So here I am. Sitting it the freezing cold weather. Waiting for them to get off their high horse and alter their mistake! Thanks for making mine and my friends day worse.

Gute Website und einfache Ausführung der Transaktion, angeblich nach 1-2 Tagen ist das Geld beim Empfänger. Ich warte seit 1 Woche auf eine Rückmeldung, angeblich liegt der Vorgang seit nunmehr 3 Tagen bei der Buchhaltung zur Prüfung. Ist das Methode, um in der Zwischenzeit mit dem Geld arbeiten zu können.? Der Mitarbeiter im Callcenter ist unverschämt und völlig fehl in einem Dienstleistungsunternehmen und lässt mich 30 Minuten in der Warteschleife, weil ich einen Vorgesetzten verlange. Einmal und nie wieder Western Union.

I have no idea why I have to award 1 star. They don't deserve it. Normal ID not acceptable to collect cash in an emergency. They said the photo ID was on their acceptable list but was not acceptable by any agents visited. I said can you ring the receivers phone and speak direct to her and someone at the branch. No. They can't. it is not their policy. The receiver has to ring from the Philippines to Australia to be transferred back to the Philippines and she has a phone that can only receive calls. Do they think they are being sent cash because they are rich ?. Next stupid suggestion was to go and get a police clearance. That only takes time and money which is a problem when you need the cash for an emergency. Better to deal with money transferrers who use Cebuana LHuillier in Cebu or whichever company is in in the area EXCEPT western union. They are a scum company. Never again will I be fooled by them. They disgust me.

I was able to make 1 transfer only. Second transfer triggered security. (or is this part of their transfer policy??) Anyways, i needed to call them and answer questions. I cant speak english or understand spoken english well enough. I tryed my best, but they cancelled my transfer and also my future transfers were blocked (for this person who is my dear friend) I had to contact customer service total 4 times before they gave me refund. Also i heard months later that my friend was having again problems with western union. This time they blocked her sons transfer. It sounds ridiculous that son cant sent money for her mom!!!! Cant recommend this company for anyone and rlly cant believe that this company is market leader in money transfer business. Just sick.

This company has cut off my account. While they imply that my transfers were not within government standards. They refuse to show me any evidence that they have to back that up. Basically, I send money to poor people I meet in my travels. I am absolutely law abiding and I do nothing illegal. By cutting me off, I can easily send money by RIA, Xoom, Xe, Transferwise and Moneygram, but unfortunately there are fewer payout sites and the people have to find a way to go get the money, which is a hardship on them. Thank you western union for hurting the most disadvantaged people in the world. If you want to accuse me of something illegal, be bold and actually tell me what you think I am doing wrong instead of hiding behind a secret curtain.

ZERO STARS Created an online account with Western Union to send money internationally. I was trying to purchase products from a company in the UK. My online session while placing my order would time out ending after only a few minutes. This required me to continue logging back in to my account several times and starting the order from scratch. Next my credit card payment would not process through. I called western union customer service. They would not offer an explanation. I tried placing the same order a second time with my debit card. Finally hours in to this entire process their site stated it went through successfully. I received a confirmation email. I notified the seller with the payment tracking information. An hour later I receive a phone call from Western Union to verify the transaction. I provided them with the requested information. My cell phone battery was about to die so I asked if I could call them back to finish the verification. The associate said yes no problem. I called them right back. I was then told over the phone their security department canceled my order. Moments later I received an email confirming my order was canceled with no explanation. In the email I was instructed to call western union. Already on the phone with them I asked them to please process my order, verify and do whatever else they needed to do to make this happen already. The associate was unable to process or verify the order. She asked me to try placing the order again. I asked if she would do it for me. She refused. I tried one last time to place the order. Their system declined the order from going through. Ultimately they were not competent in doing their job. Western Union is a complete waste of time. Western union completely ruined my day, wasted my cell phone minutes and caused me lots of stress. In addition Western Union made me look bad to the company I was trying to send money to. Western Union will do whatever it takes to make sure that your order will not go through. This makes me wonder how is this company still in business. Save your time and money. Avoid Western Union at all costs. You have been warned!
