Really rude staff, I got sold a unit trust by them where I lost £7400. COmissions rates not disclosed. Financial ombudsman awarded me 50% of that. But still lost out. One of the worst for interest rates, appaling service and where they do not see the customer as king.

They pressure you into going "paperless" but do not have the simple technology to allow you to download PDF statements from your online banking. The only option is to download various forms of spreadsheets or to ask them post you paper copies. All seems very slow and old-fashioned, and not ideal when trying to get a mortgage I will be looking into closing my account with them and switching to a more modern bank

My bank do not want to help me at all, even though they were the ones who contacted me to inform me of the suspect transactions. The First Lady I spoke to in the fraud team even said she believes I authorised the transactions (over £3400 within a matter of minutes in a Tesco and Starbucks in a part of Bangkok I have never set foot). I have done everything asked if me by my bank, I have got images from my hotels CCTV footage of me in the hotel when these transactions happened 25 odd miles away! I was also told to get the police to investigate. I went to the police station but they were uninterested and only partially filled out a form. After waiting over the weekend for my banks offices to reopen, I contacted them again and took my claim through their complaints department. Again, to no avail. This time, the guy on the phone said there is nothing he is willing to do unless the local police can prove to him something was suspect to let the thieves get hold of my PIN. As per before, the police have no interest in my case. I was then asked to contact my travel insurance (through the same bank) but when the girl on the other end went through my policy it became clear that theft from bank cards are not covered, only cash, travellers cheques etc.

I PAID OF MY CREDIT CARD, AND There WAS CREDIT LEFT ON IT OVER £1000, AND THEY DID NOT WANT TO TRANSFER IT TO MY HALIFAX Bank account. they wanted to make money off my own money which was in credit over £1000, they would charge me if i took it out by cash and they would not transfare it to my bank the person customer service names Daniel became aggressive asking for my credit card number to transfare the remaining back to the card, said you should have those details if this is legit, they didn't have them, they where trying to get personal information and robb me. they are disgusting i will be closing all my account with these devils.bad company i would like to add i have never had this problem with any bank or credit card before, just with Halifax.

Useless, imcompetent, rude and frankly questionable in their approach to home insurance and customer service. Save yourself time, money and frustration and go with a professional Company! I’ve been with Halifax for years paying through the nose purely because I bank with them also. Big mistake! First time I make a claim for accidental damage they refuse to honour it despite initially saying it was covered. They have no facts to back up their decision and have the cheek to sound irritated each time I refuse to accept them fobbing me off and ask to take it further! I used to be with direct line and never had any issues with them. I’ve now moved to another well known insurer for half the price. I only regret the money I’ve ploughed into Halifax over the years. Pointless.....

Was ok (like 2 stars) before they changed their overdraft fees, then my monthly cost for a bank account went up to around £120 which is extortionate - how can they expect you to get out of your overdraft when they are charging so much?? Also the telephone banking system is infuriating, insisting on using voice recognition which doesn't work. Further to this, before the overdraft fees came into effect I tried to get a personal loan to pay off the overdraft and credit card so I only pay one monthly repayment and can avoid the upcoming overdraft fee hike, and I was declined even though my credit rating is not bad. I only suspect they figured they would make more money from me by keeping me in my £2000 overdraft and with my £4000 credit card. The above are now paid off thanks to a family loan. I will be leaving as soon as I can.

Executor of Will. I have just completed this task. In order to undertake this I had to deal with 2 banks one of which was the Halifax. The Halifax branch in Bridgwater was fantastic. Very friendly very efficient. Made my life much easier. There was a number of beneficiaries so I had 2 members of staff undertake the bank transfers for me. Thank you Jess and Michelle. When sorting out probate I had excellent service from Kayleigh. I also should name the manager who was very good but I have forgotten her name (sorry).

Honestly never experienced such a weird response. A confirmed conversation about interest rate promotion was rescinded a month later for no reason. when challenged i was told i breached the terms of my agreement by briefly going over my limit by less than 24 hours despite making an over payment the same day! This has led to steep interest payment back dated several months. Frankly unbelievably poor customer service as they wont do anything about it. Not even a gesture. Avoid like the plague as these guys will use any opportunity to rescind a promotion that you initially thought was helpful.

I've been a Halifax customer for over 10 years. I've also taken out a mortgage with them and a personal loan for some home improvements. I recently discovered that they had charged me over £2,500 in fees over a 2 year period for an ARRANGED overdraft facility (balance on the account fluctuated between +£5000 and -£3000 during this period). Upon discovering this I decided to make a complaint, the first in 10 years. After being on hold for 3 hours whilst they worked out the relevant department I was informed 10 days later (after I called back and was placed on hold again) that they believed the fees to be fair and just however would refund me £68 (no zeros missing there) as a goodwill gesture. Just to give some perspective, their fees on arranged overdrafts are now inline with the interest charged by payday loan companies. I am now switching banks and will refer the complaint to the financial ombudsman. I suspect Halifax are losing customer in droves given how simple it's been to switch and how poorly they treat profitable customers.

If you are looking for people that giving you the extra problem Halifax is the best option. I have been with them for 5 years and I am very unhappy with the way the customer services are organised. Your acces to your account shod be simple and easy. They do exactly opposit. Very incopetent customer services

I've been with this bank for approximately 33 years and in the 21 countries that I've stepped foot in, this has to be the worst customer service I've ever come across in my life. Two weeks ago I emailed them four times, and I sent 3 separate messages on two different categories on their website. Never once has this company bothered to email me, call me, or write me a letter back. If you want my opinion I've been treated like a pile of dog****. That is exactly how I feel, they don't care about me, my son, nor my family! I wouldn't recommend this bank to anybody, their customer service representatives only care about themselves. Where has loyalty gone these days? If I ran a bank, company or business and I had a loyal customer who had been with me for 33 years, believe me I would respect that person for being with me for so long. Not the Halifax, what a useless organization.

allowed my autistic son who is 18 to go in on his own to open an account to try and build his confidence. He was told and I told the bank on the phone prior he wanted a standard account. today I find they have basically robbed him. he opened the account with his savings and it seems they felt the need to manipulate him into getting the 'ultimate reward account' at a cost of £15 per month. this has the amazing benefits of travel insurance, car breakdown cover, mobile phone insurance and home emergency cover...... he never has and I'm doubtful will travel without me and his mother, he doesn't own a car nor do his friends, I provide his fully insured contract mobile for him and he lives with us so certainly doesn't need home emergency cover. He is a full time student with no income to speak of, yet Halifax felt it prudent to force upon him an account at cost that he will never see benefit from or need. I am utterly disgusted and will be escalating this with the financial ombudsman and any other relevant authority. what a bunch of hideous people I'm beyond sickened by all of this.

Today I find my credit report has been affected by Halifax informing them I still owe £9.28 ???? I was told it my account would be cleared????. today I had to pay the £9.28 which I have and yet they can not ensure that Equifax will be contacted and my credit put right!!!! Word to the wise never never use this service. I even asked for the lady on the phone to send me a quick summary e-mail regarding this conversation and what /how it will be investigated, she tells me she isn't able to???? Very unhappy EX-CUSTOMER.

Very poor customer service. Tried to close a savings account with them today via online banking and got caught in their online fraud process. I then spent 1-2 hours on the phone to several fraud clones supplying all sorts of personal information to id myself. I was then told I had not given sufficient info so I had to go to my local branch in person to identify myself. On arrival at the local branch (reduced opening hours 10.30 to 4.30 now I guess to pay for all the new fraud clones) I was told they could not spare the time to identify me!!!!! I will be making a formal complaint but at the moment I am unable to do this as the bank is not convinced of my identity!!! Really frustrating experience - plz beware if you are considering opening a savings account with this bank.

I happened to call 24hr customer service for my Halifax credit card. I had no choice than hangup when I realised the person at the other end of the phone was not able to answer to "Hello!" in any way. The feeling was that he was having dinner with his family, while kids were screaming in the background and he was talking to someone there in a foreign language but could not answer in English to me. The local branch confirmed they do not have foreign contact centres. Who to believe? Luckily I will not need to call this number again, as I am going to close the credit card with them.
