Executor of Will. I have just completed this task. In order to undertake this I had to deal with 2 banks one of which was the Halifax. The Halifax branch in Bridgwater was fantastic. Very friendly very efficient. Made my life much easier. There was a number of beneficiaries so I had 2 members of staff undertake the bank transfers for me. Thank you Jess and Michelle. When sorting out probate I had excellent service from Kayleigh. I also should name the manager who was very good but I have forgotten her name (sorry).

Honestly never experienced such a weird response. A confirmed conversation about interest rate promotion was rescinded a month later for no reason. when challenged i was told i breached the terms of my agreement by briefly going over my limit by less than 24 hours despite making an over payment the same day! This has led to steep interest payment back dated several months. Frankly unbelievably poor customer service as they wont do anything about it. Not even a gesture. Avoid like the plague as these guys will use any opportunity to rescind a promotion that you initially thought was helpful.

I've been a Halifax customer for over 10 years. I've also taken out a mortgage with them and a personal loan for some home improvements. I recently discovered that they had charged me over £2,500 in fees over a 2 year period for an ARRANGED overdraft facility (balance on the account fluctuated between +£5000 and -£3000 during this period). Upon discovering this I decided to make a complaint, the first in 10 years. After being on hold for 3 hours whilst they worked out the relevant department I was informed 10 days later (after I called back and was placed on hold again) that they believed the fees to be fair and just however would refund me £68 (no zeros missing there) as a goodwill gesture. Just to give some perspective, their fees on arranged overdrafts are now inline with the interest charged by payday loan companies. I am now switching banks and will refer the complaint to the financial ombudsman. I suspect Halifax are losing customer in droves given how simple it's been to switch and how poorly they treat profitable customers.

I've been with this bank for approximately 33 years and in the 21 countries that I've stepped foot in, this has to be the worst customer service I've ever come across in my life. Two weeks ago I emailed them four times, and I sent 3 separate messages on two different categories on their website. Never once has this company bothered to email me, call me, or write me a letter back. If you want my opinion I've been treated like a pile of dog****. That is exactly how I feel, they don't care about me, my son, nor my family! I wouldn't recommend this bank to anybody, their customer service representatives only care about themselves. Where has loyalty gone these days? If I ran a bank, company or business and I had a loyal customer who had been with me for 33 years, believe me I would respect that person for being with me for so long. Not the Halifax, what a useless organization.

poor fraud experience - halifax incorrectly identified a potentially fraudulent transaction for £13000 made a month ago, allowed this to go through, didn't contact me at all about it, and then a month later i found out when my card got sucked into a machine when trying to put a cheque in. allowed my autistic son who is 18 to go in on his own to open an account to try and build his confidence. He was told and I told the bank on the phone prior he wanted a standard account. today I find they have basically robbed him. he opened the account with his savings and it seems they felt the need to manipulate him into getting the 'ultimate reward account' at a cost of £15 per month. this has the amazing benefits of travel insurance, car breakdown cover, mobile phone insurance and home emergency cover...... he never has and I'm doubtful will travel without me and his mother, he doesn't own a car nor do his friends, I provide his fully insured contract mobile for him and he lives with us so certainly doesn't need home emergency cover. He is a full time student with no income to speak of, yet Halifax felt it prudent to force upon him an account at cost that he will never see benefit from or need. I am utterly disgusted and will be escalating this with the financial ombudsman and any other relevant authority. what a bunch of hideous people I'm beyond sickened by all of this.

What a load of rubbish this credit card service is,(Complaint (12905871) I paid the full balance of my account in August last year, to which I was told to pay x amount. Today I find my credit report has been affected by Halifax informing them I still owe £9.28 ???? I was told it my account would be cleared????. today I had to pay the £9.28 which I have and yet they can not ensure that Equifax will be contacted and my credit put right!!!! Word to the wise never never use this service. I even asked for the lady on the phone to send me a quick summary e-mail regarding this conversation and what /how it will be investigated, she tells me she isn't able to???? Very unhappy EX-CUSTOMER.

Very poor customer service. Tried to close a savings account with them today via online banking and got caught in their online fraud process. I then spent 1-2 hours on the phone to several fraud clones supplying all sorts of personal information to id myself. I was then told I had not given sufficient info so I had to go to my local branch in person to identify myself. On arrival at the local branch (reduced opening hours 10.30 to 4.30 now I guess to pay for all the new fraud clones) I was told they could not spare the time to identify me!!!!! I will be making a formal complaint but at the moment I am unable to do this as the bank is not convinced of my identity!!! Really frustrating experience - plz beware if you are considering opening a savings account with this bank.

I happened to call 24hr customer service for my Halifax credit card. I had no choice than hangup when I realised the person at the other end of the phone was not able to answer to "Hello!" in any way. The feeling was that he was having dinner with his family, while kids were screaming in the background and he was talking to someone there in a foreign language but could not answer in English to me. The local branch confirmed they do not have foreign contact centres. Who to believe? Luckily I will not need to call this number again, as I am going to close the credit card with them.

Halifax is part of the Lloyds banking group. Says it all really. My mother had a few Halifax shares that were offered to her and my father when the company went public many years ago. Halifax 'discharged' the management of the shares to Selftrade, part of Equiniti, and it has been a nightmare. Complained to Halifax about the way this was done and they were most unhelpful. The whole affair seems to be a road-roller approach to ripping off small share holders.

I called the Halifax asking if i had PPI.( I have been with the Halifax Building Society for 25 years). I was called by a representative of the Halifax and was asked a series of questions. I asked at this point if i had PPI and was told Yes. This actually came as a surprise as i would never knowingly by ANY extra insurance.. The process took the full 8 weeks + 1 week extra to get the decision in the mail. Unbelievably there response was i was not miss sold and implied i had indeed asked for it. They also claim they told me about the commission they earned on the PPI. Now this dates back to 1996/7? **** I was stunned..The report looks to me like its been written by someone with no understanding of the process.I believe they have started an investigation, whatever that means. This will of course be forwarded to the Financial ombudsman Service. I am though curious...Has anyone been told by their lender they had PPI but didn't receive redress?..I was under the impression it was assumed you were miss sold it unless they can prove you asked for it!!!

A law unto themselves. I've never had a problem with Halifax as a bank or people in branch but their customer service agents are truly rude and horrible. I recently called about unrecognised transaction and asked for it to be investigated but decided to wait and look further myself plus still wanted to use card for cash over Xmas. I explained to fraud I didn't know about transaction etc and wanted money back. But I said before you do that I need to use card. I tried explaining four times but he talked right over me then suddenly announced it was all done and card cancelled. I wasn't happy he hadn't listened and complained. 7 days later when I call Halifax to find out how long dispute would take as had no funds I was first of all questioned as to if I even made a dispute, then I was told notes were made but no dispute logged. So I said I wanted to complain and was put on hold then same guy tells me dispute is logged it takes 3-5 days. So I stated I still wanted complain as staff members shouldn't lie saying I do then don't have disputes and the man who I wished to complain about simply said "well I choose not to uphold that complaint " and he hung up. When I called back to complain about his treatment it then turned out that the original dispute hadn't even been raised a week earlier despite my card being cancelled and told dispute raised. Three hours of phone calls just to be ignored, lied to repeatedly and u still do not even know if dispute raised was investigated. So in short if you have bottomless pockets so you can pay to call a bank just to be lied to then Halifax are for. My calls to them cost more than amount I disputed

Tried to switch and was sent to branch as joint account supposedly impossible to set up online. Phoned for an appointment but took an age to answer so gave up. Branch refused to do the joint account as passport in maiden name. Chocolate teapot service and cancelled debit card on spot. Dinosaurs. Nat West used passport and marriage certificate so can be done by others. Time wasted.
