Tomorrow's 'Now' account is a good current account (8.2/10) that boasts excellent customer ratings (9.2/10) and low fees for managing your day-to-day finances (8.6/10). Although Tomorrow is still a relatively young fintech, it is without a doubt trustworthy (7.6/10), and its banking platform offers a good quality of service (7.5/10) all around.

What Monito Likes About Tomorrow Now

  • Funds invested into sustainable projects;
  • Good current account for daily use;
  • Good fees for foreign currency transactions abroad
  • Interesting features, including pockets and Tomorrow Funds;
  • Stylish debit card in artistic design.

What Monito Dislikes About Tomorrow Now

  • €3 per month in account maintenance fees;
  • Fees for cash withdrawals;
  • Cash deposits, international transfers, and other features are missing.

We recommend Tomorrow's 'Now' account to users who want to bank sustainably while keeping monthly fees low. Since cash withdrawals are subject to a fee, Tomorrow is also very suitable for people who pay mainly by card and rarely need cash. In short, Tomorrow is the ideal neobank for anyone looking for sustainable banking services who can do without a few core features of common checking accounts (e.g. cash deposits and international transfers).

How Monito Reviewed Tomorrow's Services

As with all services reviewed by Monito, Tomorrow underwent a rigorous evaluation to assess the quality of its service. To begin with, our experts analysed several key criteria, including customer reviews, the percentage cost of various transaction types, top-up options, access to customer service, as well as business and legal metrics such as revenue, appropriate authorisation, and company size. As with all Monito Scores, Tomorrow's score was peer-reviewed by at least one Monito expert.

Trust & Credibility

7.6

Background check

Banking services and deposit insurance in cooperation with Solarisbank.

Security & reliability

Segregated user accounts and HTTPS. The cards are 3-D Secure.

Company size

About 90,000 customers, annual sales numbers not disclosed.

Transparent pricing

Pricing is transparent and user-friendly.

Is Tomorrow Safe?

Yes, Tomorrow is a safe banking platform indeed. Even though it's often known as "Tomorrow Bank", Tomorrow technically isn't a bank (the company currently doesn't yet have a banking license of its own). Instead, it uses the banking infrastructure of Berlin-based Solarisbank, which already successfully works with Vivid Money, Kontist and Penta.

In our eyes, however, this isn't a real disadvantage, as Solarisbank is fully licensed and strictly regulated by BaFin in Germany. Thus, customer funds up to a deposit amount of €100,000 are also protected by the statutory deposit insurance fund. We are therefore sure that Tomorrow is just as secure as neobanks with their own banking license.

Service & Quality

7.5

Using the mobile app

Excellent app with numerous interesting and much-loved features.

Managing the account

Sustainable and user-friendly current account with numerous functions.

Contacting support

Offers support via live chat, email and phone at set times.

Making card payments

Supports contactless and online payments, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Unfortunately, bill splitting isn't yet available.

How Good Are Tomorrow's Banking Features?

In our opinion, the debit card that comes along with the Tomorrow 'Now' account is also a highlight. Instead of wood, regular plastic is used here, but the artistic design is appealing. What's more, the card's exchange rates are based on the average rate set by Visa, meaning payments in foreign currencies can be made cheaply and transparently.

All in all, these are our highlights of Tomorrow 'Now':

  • Worldwide free payments without exchange rate surcharge.
  • 0.13% of each payment is invested in sustainable purposes (every Euro protects 1m² of rainforest).
  • Customer money finances sustainable projects – never the arms or coal industry.
  • Free debit card.
  • User-friendly management via the Tomorrow app.

How Sustainable Is Tomorrow?

In our bunq review, we already criticized the fact that "sustainability" is often used as a sales pitch without truly sustainable services being provided. Fortunately, this is different with Tomorrow. This fintech pursues an entirely different approach by not pitching sustainability as a side aspect to high profitability but as the emphasis.

This can be seen, for example, in the fact that a large part of the income is invested in sustainable projects. Of the 0.20% commission for each card payment, 0.13% goes to sustainable projects – that's 65% of the revenue.

Tomorrow also states that a large part of the monthly fees of the premium account is also invested in sustainable projects. However, they don't go into extensive detail specifically about which projects are involved and the funds' allocations.

Nevertheless, because customer funds at Tomorrow are invested in sustainable projects and guaranteed not to support arms or coal companies, we're confident that Tomorrow is the most sustainable banking startup on the market and will not disappoint on the eco-friendly front.

IBAN Scanners, Sub-accounts, and Other Features

One advantage of Tomorrow is that the company attaches great importance to developing valuable features that users might need. Therefore, most features are not created until users request them in the Tomorrow Community.

Tomorrow created IBAN scanners using this approach, making it possible to read printed IBANs, prepare transfers directly, and save time if you want to send money to other banks.

Also of note are the sub-accounts that are offered in the Tomorrow app. These provide the opportunity to save money separately from each other. We only find it a pity that sub-accounts do not come with separate bank details.

If you like to pay with your smartphone, you'll be glad to know that the Tomorrow debit card is integrated with Google and Apple Pay. Further features can be requested via the Tomorrow Community. This Trello board shows the progress of the planned features. There, you can also sign up for beta tests and view valuable tips on using the app.

Tomorrow Mobile App

Since Tomorrow does not have any real bank branches, the complete management of the current account is carried out digitally via an app. It's therefore particularly positive to note that the app was rated very well with 4.6 out of 5 stars from numerous reviews. These are our highlights:

  • Account opening in under 10 minutes: The account opening takes place directly via the Tomorrow app in the shortest possible time.
  • Easily manage your debit card: Blocking, releasing and limiting the debit card can be done at the push of a button.
  • Keep an eye on your expenses: The Tomorrow app summarizes all transactions, so you always have an overview;
  • Manage sub-accounts conveniently: All Tomorrow sub-accounts can be managed via the app with just a few clicks.

We find it appealing that the Tomorrow app encourages you to deal directly with the product team. In this way, users can influence the product and help make Tomorrow better and better.

Fees & Exchange Rates

8.6

ATM withdrawals

Withdrawals are charged € 2.00 each at home and abroad.

Online spending

Customer Satisfaction

9.2

Customer review score

Excellent average rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars on Trustpilot, the App Store, and Google Play.

Number of positive reviews

Over 14,000 four- and five-star reviews on Trustpilot, the App Store, and Google Play.

Tomorrow Customer Reviews

Although Tomorrow is a relatively new fintech with about 90,000 customers, it has already received many positive reviews on Trustpilot. Customer support is particularly positively praised (which is generally rather unusual for neobanks). Many Trustpilot reviewers also praised the user-friendly app and the craftsmanship of the wood debit card.

Negative comments mainly refer to problems and rejections concerning large debit card payments. However, Tomorrow assured the affected customers that they have solved the problem.

There also seem to be some issues with video call verification. However, these are often related to Tomorrow's banking partner, which Tomorrow cannot influence.
