Worst banking experience EVER Save yourself some trouble and just give them a pass. I opened my account on 12 September and still don't have a functioning bank account and it's November now! They said they sent all the necessary documents but I didn't receive any. We then canceled the card and they sent a new one. I unfortunately only got the card but no Pin code. They then promised to send the Pin code individually which they didn't. So I can't really use the card, can't withdraw any money from the ATM or pay in the shop. They then forgot to send me the remaining documents such as Telephone Pin or online banking which means that whenever I call Postbank they can't help me because without the telephone Pin they simply hang up on you. "Please understand that without your telephone Pin we cannot serve you. Goodbye". I then have to go to the branch every time and do an emergency withdrawal to get some cash money at least . But since that's supposed to be for emergencies, the lady at the counter now refuses to pay me out my own money. It's absolutely ridiculous. The staff is absolutely incompetent, they give you contradicting information and simply don't care for your problems. When I was asking what I should do to pay for stuff (as I am in the middle of moving), I was told to just transfer my money to a family member and have them give it back to me in cash. I mean, why did I then open a bank account in the first place??? I could go on and on. Just save yourself some troubles and don't open a bank account there!!!!

If you're Anglo Saxon you might find German bureaucracy a bit hard going. But generally it works quite effectively, and is not unfriendly, as I found sorting out my mum's estate. However, postbank scores high on Kafkaesque bureaucracy, inefficiency, and inability to contact - their special bereavement office, is especially bad - no phone, e-mail, or local presence. Mistakes in forms means they are simply destroyed! Locals who remained unpaid were entirely unsurprised when I explained the cause. Stay well clear.

I opened my Postbank account in April 2017. In the beginning of May I tried to withdraw 100€ from an ATM machine of Commerzbank (in order to not pay commission), but I go no cash, so I went to another ATM to withdraw 100€, where I paid 3.95€ commission. Later I discovered that on the list of Umsätze, I had both withdrawals listed, so they took out 100€ x2 from my account, although I only received the cash once. After numerous calls, complaints, e-mails usw., they haven't refunded me and I doubt they ever will. Won't keep this account for long.

I am currently residing here in Germany and opened an account with them last July2017 thru Ms. Rehwagen (I still have her calling card). All was doing well until they CLOSED my account for NO REASON. I submitted all the necessary documents and things were smooth but they just suddenly thought to close it. So, with a German friend, we called the office saying what happened. They sounded concerned and wanted to fix this RANDOM PROBLEM. They even said that they will give compensation for the trouble they caused and set an appointment for on the same day to fix it. So I went to the Postbank office at Leipzig City Center asking why they closed my account...nobody knows why it happened and all my submitted documents were gone. With the letter i received that they closed my bank account, I also got a cheque amounting to the money left. To my dismay to their service with no answer to what happened, i just want to get my money and forget them. To encash the cheque, they will charge you 5euro. In summary, I wasted my time to go in their office to fix the problem I DID NOT CREATE, paid tram tickets, and PAID 5euro FOR THE TROUBLE THEY MADE.

Horrible experince with Postbank. I had a Konto that was issued by Tchibo and Postbak changed the conditions and the expenses associated with it. They never responded to my letters, and 1 year ago they actually did not modify my transfer limit (my own money!!!). I had to go in the filiale and ask what was going on; after a talk they "approved" the transfer (I was buying my house with my own money saved in a Postbank Konto)! It s like my money is their money! Very rude personal! Very bad service! I will not arrgue anymore with them, I am l quitting my account!

The worst service. Can't access my online banking. Tried to contact them for about 1.5 hours but no luck. The telephone service is all automated and it's impossible to get a competent person on the other line. They reply to email is generic unhelpful replies. Mine was "you probably don't have a bank account with us". And faxes and letter they just don't reply to.

I had a Postbank account for 11 years now and set it up just before moving overseas. At the time they had the best conditions regarding accessing your money while your overseas. Well, that has certainly changed! Over the years it has become harder and harder to access my own money. Despite phone banking and online banking it has come to a point now that I will cancel my account. Well... that is, if they let me do that. I would have canceled my account years ago if I have had the opportunity to open a german bank account at a different bank. But once your first place of residency is not in Germany anymore you are not able to open up a bank account in Germany. So I was sick with them. Last time I had to change my postal address it took 6 MONTHS (!!!) until someone at postbank showed mercy and changed my postal address on the phone after verification and all. But apparently this is not possible with Postbank anymore. So just to get that straight... I can transfer my money and do ask sorts of account management online and on the phone. But it's impossible to change my postal address. Last time I sent two fax and three letters in an desperate attempt to change my postal address. The result was bits and pieces of my address were changed but not enough information to send my mail to. And as mentioned before... After a mental breakdown on the phone someone finally changed it to the correct address. Unfortunately I'm in the same position now. I have to change my postal address once again. But even begging them to change it over the phone didn't help. And even the manager I spoke prefers me to cancel my account with them then to change my address on the phone. So I have given up. I'll cancel my account because Postbanks so called customer service is non existent. Oh... and guess how I should cancel my account... by sending them yet another letter!!! Not sure whether to laugh or to cry. I just never want to deal with Postbank again!

The worst bank I've ever had a consumer account with so far. I was first attracted to them because their website looks so easy to use, but the website is probably the only thing that is easy to use. Opening an account at their physical branch in Frankfurt was a slow and painful process. But that's not the worst. About 2 months ago my card was somehow demagnetized, and I ordered a new card. I was told that the card would reach me in 2 weeks, and I waited for 3 weeks before going to a branch again to ask about it. Turns out that my card was sent to my old address. I had previously updated to my current address TWICE, so I couldn't understand how that could happen. Nevertheless, I was asked to update my address again for the third time. 2 weeks later, the "new" card finally reached me, but guess what -- it was "invalid", and consequently the ATM ate it up when I tried to withdraw cash with it. I am now without any ATM card for more than 2 months now, and I have to go to a branch physically with my passport and some sort of account statement before I can withdraw cash (that's right, they are so ridiculous that they refuse to let me withdraw anything if i don't bring a piece of paper with my account number on it. My passport is not good enough an identity) I've closed their account and moving on to a different bank. Totally regretted my decision for Postbank.

Since three weeks I submitted my university papers (Immatrikulationsbescheinigung) to confirm that I am a student. As a student, one should not be paying the bank fees. Yet, they keep billing me every time.
