I had fraud on my account with several transactions to variuos people. The Bank did not alert me to the unusual activity. A sum of nearly £27,000 was taken from my accounts. It took several visits and emails to get part of the money back and still £10,000 is outstanding. Even though I was told that my bank accounts had been unsuspended, I could not access one of my accounts. I am transferring my accounts and this is the worst Bank ever. They have all the frills upon entrance, someone meeting and greeting but beyond that, the staff (apart from one person I dealt with and she looked embarassed by the behaviour of other novices) are idiots, with monosyllabic responses.

I didn’t want a current account or credit card or loan or over draft, just a simple savings account for my piggy bank money and I explained this a couple of times during my ‘interrogation’. Metro Bank wanted to know how much money I take home each month, if I have an overdraft, what the credit limit on my credit card is and how much I have used, how much my rent/mortgage is each month and who I currently bank with. They also asked for my email and phone number and all this personal private information was scribbled on a scrap of paper. Then she started to use a computer and my address wasn’t recognised. Where I live was built in 1920 and converted into flats in 1978. So a flat address that has existed for 39 years was not recognised by their system. I had my driver’s photo license with me and a council issued Alcohol photo license, both of which show my address, but this wasn’t proof enough and they wanted another two forms of address ID! At this point, I said I wasn’t going to take the application any further. She didn’t seem at all bothered so I assume my response is a common one. The branch is like a gold fish bowl with zero privacy as the desks are just next to each with nothing separating them. The scrap of paper with all my personal details probably went in a desk bin too. Metro have no idea about privacy, personal data security and no concept of identity theft either. All I wanted to do was pay my piggy bank money into a savings account.

Extremely welcoming and friendly. Helped me cash in a large amount of coins from my fundraising, regardless of the fact that I do not hold an account with themselves. Advised and stayed with me during the whole process introduced themselves individually and made an effort to remember my name. Held the door open for me as I left the building and ensured I had done everything I came there for.

Absolutely disgraceful company. Employs uneducated young adults. They barely know what they are doing and have to use their internal system to ask for advice when you call them. Dispute team is a disgrace - Failed to protect me against me goods which arrived not as described. I provided all evidence but due to Metro banks negligence, the 45 day timeout was exceeded and thus I lost £1200!!! I was promised a callback from their 'complaints department' within 3 days. Its been 4 days and still no calls. Worst bank I have ever used. Absolute disgrace. Will be shutting down both the current and credit card accounts. Will be reporting this to Mastercard and trading standards!

I just Arrived to London from Denmark, have a job, NI number etc., but no, it was not enough. My self is a bankadvisor, working as that in Denmark. This kind of custumer service/legislation would not happen in Denmark even before the World war.

The staff are barely interested in being there and I assume that the only fun they have is in making things as awkward as possible for customers . This is what you get if you staff each branch with school leavers that clearly lacked the grades to get into university or the ambition to become nail technicians . The last time I was this angry it led to divorce and that was fifteen years ago so , Well Done , Metro staff !

My family have been corporate and personal customers of Metrobank since they opened, and we transferred all our accounts over from Lloyds, thinking no new bank could be as bad as the old ones.... oh boy were we wrong!! My local Director (Cheapside), is a power mad dictator who seems to like hurting and upsetting customers more than serving or helping them. The vast majority of staff are poorly trained and rude. Their own staff were also involved in defrauding our account of more than £15,000. Your money is not safe with Metrobank, and you will get THE worst customer experience of any high street bank despite what Vernon has tried to create here (Sadly his staff let him down BIG time).

SO ANGRY , I cannot even describe. My daughter has 2 accounts with Metrobank, one savings and one current, which was DEFINITELY sold as a current account, but transpires to be a 'cash account'. She opened this as she had a young persons account with Lloyds and wanted a bona fida current account moving forward as an adult. As it is a 'cash account' my 18 year old daughter is in Australia and has no access to money, Metrobank are apparently unable,(UNWILLING ??) to convert to a current account, DESPITE IT BEING A MIS-SOLD ACCOUNT. They only come up with non viable solutions. Seriously considering moving all my accounts, including my business ones.

I visited both the Reading and Basingstoke branches and both were incompetent, I spent all afternoon in there one day, they lost my paperwork, I completed all the checks and didn't hear from them again. I chased up and spoke to a dozen different people all of whom advised they would call me back........they didn't. This bank does not meet it's promises to delight or to be convenient and it's staff are entirely useless and frankly my 2 year old could do a better job of providing good customer service or better yet, actually meet the needs of customers. Seriously OUTRAGED and would not recommend to anyone, I shall be taking my business elsewhere and encouraging my friends to do the same!!!!

If I could give minus ratings on this I would! Awful bank and there are no other words. I visited the branch 3 times to open a business account, twice was because they lost my paperwork so I had to take it in again. I was promised it would be opened within 5 days, my credit check was great, my docs were in order. After at least 9 different phone calls and several emails from me chasing up having heard nothing, I got a number of 'someone will get back to you' fob offs.........nobody ever did. Eventually after being at this for the best part of 3 mths I got an email (no apology) to say they couldn't open my account as their team determined I needed to be FCA regulated despite the fact I don't handle other people's money and am not a lender which makes no sense at all. I am FURIOUS with this joke of an organisation for wasting my time (4hrs I spent in branch on one trip). I have worked in investment banking in my previous career for 15+yrs and can honestly say I have never seen such incompetence, rudeness, poor customer service and inspite of their motto to be convenient and to 'delight their customers' they have achieved neither!!!!

This bank is poor in follow up, has disconnect between the head office and the branches. Staff has incomplete/ wrong information. Strict strict strict -Verification process (still respect it) but all in vain at the end

Over the past couple of months, I keep trying to log in, but the system tells me either I've not entered any information (I have) or the information is wrong (it isn't). This is the same information I've been logging in with for years. I try and try and it won't let me in, then the next day I can get in. But then I try and make a payment. I fill in the amount and select the drop down menu to select which account the payment is to come from, but the menu is blank, no accounts are shown. I've phoned the call centre twice to complain about this and got the same answer twice, i.e. the website is designed for desktop computer use and doesn't work very well with mobile devices. I couldn't quite believe I'd heard this, as who banks on a computer now? I don't have a computer. Often, the buttons just don't click (well, register taps). Like twice when I tried to send a complaint from the mail box. I sat like an idiot typing the whole thing up, and after ten minutes a window popped up while I was typing saying there was no activity and so I would be logged out and gave me a button to tap to continue, counting down from 20 while I tapped it every single way I could but it just would not register the tap and deleted my complaint, all my typing, and logged me out. Recently, I thought I would add a mobile number. Wish I hadn't as it was a stupid, stupid decision of mine as, without being asked, now any transaction suddenly sends out an OTC code, meaning I have to carry a phone everywhere (not my habit). To change the number I had to answer the security question of where I opened the account, which branch. This was over ten years ago to a place I only ever went to once and I answered wrong twice before I got it right. Well, recently, I started using a different credit card from Creation, mainly as Metrobank online payments don't work unless you are chained to a Windows95 computer in a basement, but the creation card allows payment via the 16 digit number on a debitcard. So this worked for a few times, but then was just being refused for no reason. I would enter the number, receive a otp via mobile from metrobank, enter it and the payment would be refused. So I phoned up and was told my card is blocked for security reasons as I sent 4000.00 to a company called IG. So they just blocked it and didn't tell me. But a simple google search shows IG to be a stockbroker listed on the ftse, the account was in my own name, and I've made previous payments to this account. A month before I made three 20,000.00 payments to a different broker and nothing was blocked (after I went through the usual torture of unclickable buttons, empty drop-downs and eventually giving up, doing it by phone, shouting out my personal details in a cafe to get past security). So this new block was lifted. I asked, why are you sending out an otp for this payment if the card is blocked, sending out the code implies the card is OK, which means I keep trying again and again and again over days and end up making a late payment, and was told it all happened because I entered the code in too slowly, which is utterly devoid of logic, as is the block in the first place. As it is, the account has very little functionality, most things don't work and I need to keep phoning, and this just isn't the way a bank account is supposed to be at all.

I will not recommend this bank. Services, it's quite annoyed and the staffs are clueless. I have 4 accounts, 2 passbooks, 1 ATM, and 1 investment account. One of my passbook account they automatically closed without any confirmation to me. My passbook savings account have enough money. I have many times tried to contact their staffs but they are sending me to one another staffs. Now, I decided to open another account name belongs to my sister then, she has a complete documents to submit when they see it the name of my partner in one of the documents that they are requested to my sister. They're asking again the certification letter and identification Card. What on earth is that? Just very simple process to help my sister to open an account then that's it. How's difficult is that. I am a bit frustrated because, I am currently living in Australia. I want to use that money to pay for the materials of my parents new building house... I have so much to tell to this helpless bank.

Do not use, metro bank are hopeless and their business account isn't even value for money compared to say Santander. The staff are clueless, call centre isn't much better. Went in to do a int transfer as not possible online ( takes an age and the girl made a mistake inputting the exchange rates) Had to go in again and raised a complaint asking them to at least train the girl properly. Fast Forward 2 months, get the same girl again and this time she incorrectly types the account number ie 31 instead of 13 and also messes up the beneficiary address details by putting in a previous payment in the same box. As i didn't notice the error, they put the blame squarely on me and .. do nothing. I have to ask them to recall the payment and keep me updated. Yep, nothing happens a week later. So i go into branch and they have no idea if a recall as even been sent. Takes them a good hour to tell me this. I ask to see if i can get a business overdraft to help me as now im tight on cashflow and suggest i can come back during the day, they say no sir its fine, all our staff have access to everything. so after waiting another 1.5 hours, where the guys who take the meetings don't even know i'm waiting like a lemon finally speaks to me and after a while says' this is not as straightforward as i initially thought' takes down my details and promises to call me back the next day. 2 day later, not contact on the overdraft or the missing payment. I'm now on hold with their contact centre , the girl goes she has access to all the information an but now im having to listen to hold music while she calls...... my branch to ask them if they have recalled the payment. Entire thing is a shambles, incorrect payments can take time to come back, i accept that but i rely on you metro to keep me up to date. okay girl has come off hold now so lets see what she says.

After all I have been told that they will make decision in 48 hours. If you consider to take a credit card go somewhere else do not waste your time.

I have been using Metro Bank since December 2014 and I have been very happy with the experience so far. Opening a bank account was fast and the service excellent. Customer service always very kind and helpful. Replacement of cards takes 5 minutes. New mobile app launched in May 2017 is great and UX is easy and clean. I can only say the most positive things about my experience with Metro Bank (after the hell I experienced with HSBC). Highly recommended!

If a victim of fraud you are screwed After banking with Metro for 2 years, my partner was recently a victim of fraud and £6000 was taken from his account. He reported the fraud within minutes of it taking place. No text message was sent or any verification to check the payment was valid. After several telephone calls and making him fill out various forms, Metro told him today that it is 'not our policy' to refund the money that was FRADULENTLY removed from his account. If it was never 'your policy' to make the refund, why didnt you say that in the first instance instead of wasting everyones time? We will now be closing the account with you. BE WARNED - this bank do not refund any fraud that takes place now matter how vigilant you have been.

Big promises of modern banking, but a highly disappointed business banking customer: - very limited functionality of the mobile app - can not make transfers or any operations with the non-GBP accounts - so had to get paid 'business banking plus' service (another 2 hrs to get to the branch and connect) - local advisors did not know how to switch it on, used wrong id and forgot to link hard token to my account, so another few calls to the support line - once 'business banking plus' was connected, i've lost ability to use mobile app and per advisor mobile app is incompatible with business banking plus Totally useless and shameful service, stone age of banking functionality
