Any visit in the branch takes ages. I was trying to increase my credit cards limit after an hour of filling forms and review my last 3 months spendings I started to have a strange feeling. After all I have been told that they will make decision in 48 hours. If you consider to take a credit card go somewhere else do not waste your time.

Really helpful and friendly service. You can call the English call centre and NOT get frustrated! It's actually a nice experience calling them unlike normally calling a bank which is a form of torture. They do need a better appointment system in store though.

Always had to come into branch to send international payments, took forever and sometimes didn't even go through. Wouldn't use them again. After banking with them for over 2 years I finally switched to another bank.

I have been using Metro Bank since December 2014 and I have been very happy with the experience so far. Opening a bank account was fast and the service excellent. Customer service always very kind and helpful. Replacement of cards takes 5 minutes. New mobile app launched in May 2017 is great and UX is easy and clean. I can only say the most positive things about my experience with Metro Bank (after the hell I experienced with HSBC). Highly recommended!

If a victim of fraud you are screwed After banking with Metro for 2 years, my partner was recently a victim of fraud and £6000 was taken from his account. He reported the fraud within minutes of it taking place. No text message was sent or any verification to check the payment was valid. After several telephone calls and making him fill out various forms, Metro told him today that it is 'not our policy' to refund the money that was FRADULENTLY removed from his account. If it was never 'your policy' to make the refund, why didnt you say that in the first instance instead of wasting everyones time? We will now be closing the account with you. BE WARNED - this bank do not refund any fraud that takes place now matter how vigilant you have been.

Big promises of modern banking, but a highly disappointed business banking customer: - very limited functionality of the mobile app - can not make transfers or any operations with the non-GBP accounts - so had to get paid 'business banking plus' service (another 2 hrs to get to the branch and connect) - local advisors did not know how to switch it on, used wrong id and forgot to link hard token to my account, so another few calls to the support line - once 'business banking plus' was connected, i've lost ability to use mobile app and per advisor mobile app is incompatible with business banking plus Totally useless and shameful service, stone age of banking functionality

Fantastic experience at Wimbledon branch. I've felt very welcome and comfortable. since I walked in someone greeted me very quick, offered tea or water and I was assisted with my matter fast. Liam, person that assisted me had been very professional and explained everything very clearly. Impressive bank!

Honestly! This is the worst bank ever! Customer service is zerrro! I visited the Kensington branch /and the so call staffs are chatting away, leaving the customers waiting! I have been waiting now for over one hour just to activate my mobile banking which take about 5-10min. I'm honestly think of closing my acct with them! If the staffs are not ready to work then they should quit their jobs... rubbish

What a shambles, they are the WORST bank I have EVER come across, from the customer service, fraud department, following up complaints. I have had accounts all over the world and never have I had such rubbish service. I am astounded they are still functioning. I withdrew all my money due to their inability to even send a replacement card to my overseas address! If you wish to change contact details i.e. address, new telephone number because of such things as moving country, you can't as their systems only allow you to update ONE piece of information within a 7 day period! You also can't have an overseas address. The fraud department is just that fraudulent and an embarrassment on how incapable they truly are. I had to send a fraud declaration form in 3 times by email and requested receiving staff to confirm they had received this form, I received 2 confirmation emails from 2 different people and they then proceeded to tell me they had NEVER received it! DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH THEM!

One of the worst banks I have ever seen. the bank issued me a gift card which was more than a year old and in two months the giftcard had zero balance without being used. According to their customer service they charge in active fees every month without caring about when a person received the card.

I recently opened a current account with Metro at their Milton Keynes branch. I was very impressed with the speed and efficiency with which this was done. Card issued, account and online account all set up in less than an hour. I had occasion to phone their help line and was very pleased with their timely response, no queuing listening to inane music! Problem resolved swiftly and painlessly. I use the cash card a lot abroad and their exchange rate is better than any I have received from other banks and no transaction fee either! All in all I have been very impressed with them and am very happy.

Terrible customer service, their telephone team mentioned no appointments required, first visit informed no appointments available, first day wasted. Second day give them a second change, walk in and told next appointments at 12, ok so wait around for an hour, comes to 12pm, informed the business advisor is still busy, so wait around for another 45 minutes, ended up walking out. Won't be wasting my time with Metro Bank, stick to your usual high street banks if you don't want poor service or waste your time.

As an addition to my previous review, when I went into the branch to close my account, I was asked to sign a form stating "ACCOUNT NO LONGER REQUIRED". I advised that this was incorrect as I was closing the account due to POOR SERVICE. I was advised that this or similar was not an option on the form that's generated, so instead I handwrote why I closed the account. I strongly suspect that this represents misreporting to keep up the real numbers. Shame on them.

Absolutely terrible customer service. They are the most dishonest incompetent bunch I've ever dealt with. I tried to open a Business Account and have met with nothing but a useless bunch of @#$&¥. Their telephone service is also a waste of time as they claim they can never get in contact with the branch. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.

Don't waste your time with the bunch of clowns who are as bad as the other banks. We tried to open a business account and visited Cheapside Branch twice on Tuesday to see someone in their "walk in" service, without success. This morning Wednesday, we again visited at 9.25am, and were told that there were no business advisors available again (although the branch is devoid of customers), and to come back and try again at 11am, when I assume their business advisors start work. We made a reasonable suggestion that they make an appointment for us, given that this would be our FOURTH ATTEMPT to open an account, but we were given the "computer says no" response. CRAP SERVICE and not even worth considering as your bank.

Asked for proof of funds for a relatively small deposit. Not fun to be accused of money laundering and made to feel like a criminal. Longer opening times and "friendly service" do not make up for it's short comings - things like free withdrawals in Europe are offered in better capacity by Halifax with Clarity card. Its offerings are bested by other banks so it's a waste of time to use them in my opinion. There is no machine to automatically deposit cheques.

I made a complaint via the phone and was treated incredibly rudely; I asked for it to be investigated and other Metro Bank staff say it's OK to treat customers in this way. A few days later I went into branch to pay in some cash and was taken aside, I was pretty much told to leave by in branch staff in a nasty way "if I don't find them that helpful" and that "First Direct have as good ratings as us, join them." I was also firmly discouraged from putting any further complaints and if so to call them directly in this branch, not the call center. I also had them make comments on my personal Twitter account which I had in the past used to ask questions and complain as no-one else could answer my question; they knocked my confidence to the fact I later felt I should close it and have only just regained the confidence to reopen. I lasted seven months with Metro and I'm so glad I'm now with another bank.

Easy to open the account, online access setup was straightforward, new mobile app is great - does everything that I want from a business bank (I've been with HSBC and Santander up until this year). I've not needed to ring so can't comment on phone access, but I've had no problems at all.

Headed to Tottenham Court Road branch today. After checking website went along with driving licence, council tax bill for old address, addressed to new property, and a letter from the bank. Website states bring proof of identity and 1 or 2 documents proving address. Entered branch, got asked what we'd brought. Told we needed two proofs of address as we'd been at new address for one month. So I provide driving licence and council tax bill. Then asked for proof of identity. Tell the guy he's holding my driving licence, that proves my identity. "No, that proves your address" I'm told. Then we get into a discussion that it shows both. After thirty seconds it's clear I can't open an account, and by that stage I no longer want to. The driving licence can be used to prove my address. Or it can be used to prove my identity. But it cannot be used to prove both. Possibly the most outrageous comment I've had the misfortune to hear in any conversation with any company ever. The conversation ends when he tells me the website clearly states what to bring. I tell him I've brought exactly what the website asks for. He disagrees. So I leave. Never expected this attitude or level of service from this bank. Looks like I stick with the old guard. And that's a real shame.
