Someone has set up a Halifax account from my address and Halifax will not remove it. I have been into their branch endless times and they tell me it’s being dealt with but nothing happens. I have also telephoned them on numerous occasions. The police are involved but Halifax is still doing nothing. The person has now gone into debt so credit agencies are being involved. This has gone on for the last year. I’m not surprised that Halifax has so many poor reviews. I would never bank with them after my experience dealing with their company.

Atrocious. Paid mortgage in full on 24th, recieved letter on 27th confirming mortgage closed and Direct Debit cancelled and then took another payment on 28th, then say 15 working days to refund. 3 weeks for an electronic refund, quicker to tie a cheque to a pidgeons leg.

Utter scum Company, kept taking me into my overdraft which racked up more and more charges. I said to them just stop taking payments out my account before my direct debit goes in, they refused to and ended up racking up nearly £500 worth of bank charges. Greedy, untrustworthy bank.

Halifax takes £3.64 a day for my overdraft. Thats nearly £100 a month, which takes me further into debt. The previous month they backdated and took £147 in one month. They have previously somehow allowed someone open an account online in my name fraudulently and allowed that person to transfer my wages in one hit. They offered no explanation. This allowed the person to also open other account using these details, set up direct debits and rack up debt in my name via Halifax. I went into branch not so long ago where i asked to speak to a human being. I was told no I would need to ring money management about the overdraft. The representive was dismissive and rude and could see I was distressed. She proceeeded to point to the phone that was situated in the reception area of the branch in front of other customers who could hear all my personal details. I asked for a private room and to speak to a person where she told me "no one does that anymore only to discuss mortgages" I asked for a private room to use the phone and I was told no unless I wanted to wait an hour. So I waited. And waited. And waited. she then came over and told me in front of other customers that I might aswell use the phone at reception. I was so embarrassed. Crying and distressed as It was a weekday and i had left work to urgently talk to someone to halt the fees. After waiting for the private room I was on the phone for a further 2 hours ! And ....after all this I came out with no resolve. I have since written in to Halifax complaints where before the 14 day period given to them to respond..they confirmed they received my letter and would be in touch. However the letter was addressed to me and some other random name. I have since heard nothing about the situation and everything else I am trying to resolve. I am giving it one more week and forwarding all my documentation to the financial ombudsman. Terrible bank, the worst. They have put my in a bad financial situation, and their customer service is non existent. God help us lot. Greed. Money goes to money whilst the rest of us suffer.

They pressure you into going "paperless" but do not have the simple technology to allow you to download PDF statements from your online banking....Mehr

They pressure you into going "paperless" but do not have the simple technology to allow you to download PDF statements from your online banking. The only option is to download various forms of spreadsheets or to ask them post you paper copies. All seems very slow and old-fashioned, and not ideal when trying to get a mortgage I will be looking into closing my account with them and switching to a more modern bank

I have had a couple of issues with Halifax like everyone will have with their bank from time to time, however, they have always been consistent in going above my expectations to resolve my query, if you feel as though your query hasn’t been answered in the way you want, try bieng nice and honest and show understanding that it isn’t usually the fault of the person on the other end of that phone, I complained about an advisor bieng rude by saying she maybe needs a hug and a bacon sandwich and they gave me £40 I asked politely about why my overdraft fee was being taken out twice and she explained clearly why and after I explained that I basically had £1 for the week she then refunded me it even though it was owed. Politeness goes a long way, and the people on the other end of the phone are usually there to help where they can

so far 75 minutes o the phone and all i get is hold on as some other dept is not doing there job. Still holding trying to speak to a supervisor but i presume it will be another 60 mins. An absolute disgrace. Been trying to get a power of attorney on system but everytime there is another issue. Been into the branch 3 times with more documents that i had given before. Know being told that the copy one dept has sent to another is not great and waiting for a better copy which i fail to belive as they have sent back the original to me so not sure how they will get another copy My mother has now waited for 4 weeks to get into a care home but i need to pay and cant get the products sold. An absolute disgrace

halifax buidling society but these days they like to call themselves a bank re lloyds tieup, and because of this link they offer what all banks are offering in terms of renewal savings rates. 2 pct recently became 0.5 pct at renewal in spite of a bank rate rise and they are presently thinking! of tweeking rates in view of this rise. I approached Virgin money who had recently been offering 2.4 pct but are still able to offer 2 pct. I told Halifax by phone that the rate offered in my renewal letter was a bad joke and guess what they could not comment and i received a letter which boiled down to market forces and i don`t buy any of it. I was among several Halifax customers at Virgin seeking a realistic return on my renewal savings so moving was a no brainer , i do not lend money at 0.5 pct and nor do HALIFAX. I am not happy with HALIFAX and this is my right to comment on my recent customer experience.

Hey there. I have been a Halifax account holder for years but gradually closing all of them. Still got my mortgage but that's the only single thing u have offered that's any good . Me and my wife only use the Halifax current account i have now, for household bills etc because I can't stand their charges or the delutions of granduar that you get from the staff. We both pay £1800 pcm in to my Halifax current account from our proper accounts (from Natwest and Santander, proper banks that don't rip u off for having a 800 + credit rating and don't rape u for having an arranged overdraft!!!!) The thing is, we go £1000-£1500 into our agreed overdraft pcm (agreed!!!!!! )and our fee for this has gone up from £30ish pcm to about £90+pcm. This is Ludicrous. We earn a combined salary of £80000+ pa and use this account for convenience. Best to pay off agreed overdraft asap (again agreed overdraft!!!!!!!) , speak to my wifes or my Proper banks and get the hell away from halifax. Absolute rip off.

Like most of the other Banks who are supposed to be protecting our finances do this by pretending the most Vulnerable Customers are a fraud on their own accounts if have disabilities or memory problems is outrageous . Using Data Protection to lock them out of their own accounts cannot access & delaying Switches or Payments when plenty of money in accounts is a disgrace .It is out of order proving none of them are fit for purpose likewise the Information Commissioner & Legal System , in my case contributed to cardiac arrest . They are using their own Financial Advisors as Managers with their own bias for profit to hoodwink via the technical .They are also charging for time specific issues then not addressing as not recording reasonably,operating on backlogs allowing Call Centres on remits to direct the Branches whilst denying access to sort out e.g.: telephone banking numbers resending over and over again .Original ethical Managers would turn in their graves as this should never have happened like this ?!They then have the audacity to do surveys which they must ignore. The customers they choose to harass & bully are those that cannot get online to see how they are being deceived with the Ombudsman colluding with them & Insurance Companies.This is so the most Vulnerable are made easy targets & ripped off , it appears the Government has decentralised so it does not have to address this complying with its own fraudulent practices found in its own taxation, funding & benefits system ?

Received new iPhone today updated from the cloud all ok so far , tried to get on the online banking for my Halifax account and guess what needed all my passwords so far so good however I couldn't remember my passwords, so I tried to change and update them, but it wouldn't let me, so I rang the Halifax and was on the phone for more than half an hour all sorted but when I logged out and tried to log in again it wanted me to reset all my password and memorable info all over again. now if I was a young twenty year old all this password and user id would be second nature but as I'm not I find this all very frustrating , I fully understand the reasons for user id's and passwords but come on Halifax think of us oldens as well !!!

What an absolute bunch of time wasters. I spoke to th Halifax online team to move my Mortgage to a new fixed rate as my old rate ends in 1 weeks time. ( property Value £235000 - £245000 current mortgage outstanding £23650 LTV of approx 10%) then advised me that I needed to make tn appointment in the branch to set up the new fixed rate. I then made an appointment with the online team to go in to the Cardiff branch today to discuss all my borrowing, overdraft, loans and mortgage as I was given the impression that it could all be dealt with by the branch. Having attended the branch on the agreed appointment time (5 minutes early) I was told that they would not be able to deal with my mortgage request as this needed to be dealt with by a mortgage adviser (what a waste of my time and a day off work. ! ) they also told me that they were unable to restructure my overdraft, unless I took out a loan with at an interest rate of 25.9% which happens to be exactly what the new Halifax overdraft rate equates to. (This is how they treat loyal customers of 25 years) I expressed my concerns with the rate as I had just checked my Credt Score (Excellent 926) so obviously Halifax we’re taking the biscuit, the Halifax advisor was not even interested. To be honest she came up with so many excuses not to do her job etc - computer not working correctly, chip access machine faulty etc. The lady was so inadequate at her role, personally I am actually surprised she even has a job. I then decided that I was wasting my time, I left the branch achieving nothing apart from an 0800 number to be able to phone another Halifax team !! (Mortgage team) It gets worse:- I have since spoken to the mortgage advisor, who has confirmed that the moving of to the new fixed rate could have been dealt with by the branch and that I would need to make an appointment to go back to the branch to do the transfer. What a joke ( I took a day off work already today, costing me £200) Finally, it seems quite obvious to me that the Branch staff were not interested, they have an extremely poor attitude to work, they were extremely rude and that their Customer service/ advice is Extremely poor.

This happened a few years about, before I knew about trust pilot! In 2008 I lost my job, in part due to the banking collapse. HBOS was one of the worst culprits, but I had always been happy with the service they gave me as a customer. When I lost my job I also suffered a breakdown. I had no money coming in and instead of approaching the banks I paid my bills on credit cards until the situation became unmanageable. I finally got help from the debt company Stepchange who contacted the banks I was in debt to and put a payment plan in place. I was always going to pay the money back as soon as I got on my feet financially. Nat West, Santander and Barclays all agreed to stop charging me interest and I thought Halifax had too. I was paying them £50 a month thinking that it was bringing down what I owed them. I wasn't well and so I wasn't even opening my post for over a year. When I was well enough to go through all of my unopened mail I was horrified to see that the £50 a month I was paying Halifax wasn't bringing down the balance of what I owed, they were still charging me interest. I was really upset about it and rang them. Their attitude was that if I could afford to pay as much as £50.00 a month then I must be able to afford to pay the interest. I asked them to reconsider given that all my other creditors had waived interest and they refused, saying that it was decided by computer and they could do nothing about it, which is nonsense. A few months later they sold the debt on to moorcroft collection agency, probably for less than 50% of what I owed them. Moorcroft treated me fairly and I got back k on my feet financially. A couple of years later I had an inheritance and was able to pay back the £16000 I owed to the banks, so if Halifax had just been patient with me they would have got everything back I owed them, rather than half. So in the end it was them that lost out. If you have debts please don't be afraid to approach the people you owe to for help and understanding. If you're afraid of losing your house or balifs coming to your door let me assure you it needn't get so bad. Unlike some debt management companies who charge fees Stepchange don't. Every penny you pay them goes towards paying off what you owe. They are a charity and have a lot of clout with the banks.

I have just been into my local branch of Halifax to deposit £7 of old pound coins into my daughter's Young Saver account. As these were from a forgotten piggy bank of hers I thought this would be a nice touch. I checked before queing up that this was OK, then waited for about 10 minutes before being served. A young woman with glasses and brown hair was on duty. I realised that I didn't have the account number with me, but offered to provide name and postcode details so they could find it. The cashier was unacceptably rude, clearly couldn't be bothered to help me and actually asked me where I personally banked. She then said that I should have taken the money there because it was just over the road. I have been served by this cashier before and she is always rude and difficult. I now think I need to move the account because what is the point of using a high street bank if you can't use their high street branches without being insulted. Avoid, avoid avoid!
