Friday 13th October 2017. A problem with a Santander cash machine left me in a state of despair! It kept my money (Halifax Account). There was little, if any help inside the bank and I was told to go to the nearest Halifax. I did. I was greeted by Abbie who immediately did a fantastic job of calming me down. She explained everything in a professional and friendly manner and left me completely reassured. My blood pressure returned to normal thanks to her. Thank you Abbie!

Halifax Home emergency insurance that I pay for is a complete waste of time. I have never used the service before but came home to a leaking bathroom ceiling. When I called the emergency service at 8pl I was told someone would call me back within 2-4 hours. At 3am nobody had made contact so I called them back, only to be told I had been given the wrong information. Someone would contact me the next day. Finally at 6.30pm an engineer came out but couldn’t do anything. He said he would arrange for somebody else to come out. 48 hours after that visit I had heard nothing so I phoned them again to be told someone would call me the next morning at 10.00. Nothing, so I phoned them yet again at midday for them to tell me the engineer reported it yesterday but nothing had been done. In the meantime I’ve still got my leak which is causing damage to the bathroom . I spoke to a “manager” who told me they were trying to arrange for the appropriate engineer to come out but didn’t think it would be this week. When I explained that the longer this goes on the more damage would be caused, all she could say was you will have to claim off your buildings insurance. What is the point of having a Home emergency service that leaves you with a leak or the alternative of absolutely no water or heating for over a week. Absolutely useless.

Halifax mortgages are the absolute pits for thier customer service they are just full of lies and make mistake after mistake and never take any accountibilty i have been a customer for over 20 years and never been treated this badly by any other company no one ever take out a mortgage with them you may live to regret it !!!! In the worst time of my life when I need them the most they have been. Disgusting I am selling my house due to circumstances out of my control and going through a negative equity claim I have a buyer ready yes it is below the price but a fair offer and have offered a reasonable payment plan so not trying to run away from this they are only harassing me not my ex husband as I am at least contacting them I am close to a mental breakdown and now under the doctor for this after several complaints this has now gone to deadlock They have given me false information threatened to have a lock Smith go to my house which turned out to be false information I should have been flagged as a vulnerable customer to find out it has not been done ... the left hand doesn't know what the right ha d is doing and all they want to do is keep apologising well that is not good enough The manager I spoke to early October was meant to put my account on hold until it was looked into and this was not done properly I am getting calls asking about the debt up to 4 times a day and today I received 3 letters with the same information on madness There is zero accountability they do not update their notes and it now appears my claim has been closed and I have to maybe start again oh and to look into that it could take 8 weeks All while my debt just keeps racking up with a buyer in the background that could resolve it all just no logic at all they just keep bidding behind processes and are not empathetic at all I am at the end of my tether and just don't know what to do anymore Treating customers fairly helping people stay out of debt following fca guideline ....i think not This is the worst experience i have ever had even a murderer on trial would have been treated better than this

Merseyway Stockport Branch, Had a very bad experience in Stockport branch. I was with my wife and 13 months old son. I asked only to print last 12 months transactions as we do paperless banking. They refused to do it as they are not allowed to print more than 3 months. They advised me to and find library and print from there. So I travelled 5 miles already to get into the branch and I need to travel back and do all of these. When I ask if they can call manager so one random lady, she named her self ANITA stepped in and spoke to me very funny and rude manners that she said I m assistant store Mgr (Actally she was not assistant store Mgr), she refused to help me, she was rude, arrogant, no manners how to speak to customers. She said I m following company policy...wow really...! I believe company never asked you misbehave with your customers. She is the same lady just minute ago WAS WATCHING VIDEO ON HER DESK Top computer, which is company property to use input customers data. I believe HALIFAX Bank is great place to work because you can watch videos when you want at work using company desk top ...!!!Nice... I asked her if she can Wright her name but she refused. The way she was talking to me was like my 4 year old daughter:), Later I rang there customer services they spoke to me nicely and professionally and assured me that store manager from that branch will call me .... No call.... I rang again around 1615, they assured me again that store manager will call me today...,Guss what .... no Call Yet...., Halifax needs to review how their team is doing on floor and Halifax deffo needs to arrang some up skill oh how to behave and come across with customers. They need to learn if any product or services they don't do which customer ask, starting point should be apologies not to INSULT to customer. ..,

PPI Claim. Phoned "Helpline" (Philipines), gave details of mortgage accounts & requested claim form. Nothing happened until a month later when I received letter stating "as I had not returned claim form (dated 14th Sept) my complaint was closed". Phoned Philipines stating I had not received any communication or form dated 14th Sept therefore please resend. Letter arrives a few days later along with copy of original letter of 14th which said please fill in enclosed form. You've guessed it - no form! Phoned Philipines for 3rd time, person I spoke to did not understand and had great difficulty speaking basic English. Asked to speak to his Supervisor. After 5 mins another person came on line, I explained again what had happened, I was assured matter would be investigated (I don't think) and another letter with form would be sent the following day. Two weeks later, and still waiting, phoned you know where and asked to speak to a manager straight away. Finally passed across to a "Supervisor" who said there was a backlog, pointed out I had been assured letter would be sent out following day two weeks previously and did he consider his company / call centre, as a sub contractor to Halifax, had acted in an appropriate manner. He apologised and I requested a meeting with my local Branch Manager as his company had failed totally. His response he couldn't arrange that, after some "persuading" he gave me a contact number back in England. This turned out to be an old 0845 number which had changed last year to an 0345 number. Rang this and spoke to a helpful lady called Robyn in Belfast call centre. After running through the bad management, mis communication within the Halifax organisation she apologised and put me through to the Mortgage Department. I then explained, yet again, I was trying to get a claim form for PPI and gave all my mortgage. The man said he did not have my records on the system and would have to pass me on to another section. Guess what, after another 5 minute wait I was speaking to some illiterate woman in the Philipines. After requesting to speak to a manager again, she said in broken English there wasn't one so I said thank-you and finished the call. Have now withdrawn most of my money from the Halifax leaving only a pound in each of 3 accounts and ISA and sold all bar a few of my shares. It will now cost the Halifax more in postage to send me statements and voting forms than they will make from me. Voting with your feet is the only answer. Then go to Financial Ombudsman site and make out complaint form. The Halifax are still in the Stoneage (as seen in TV advertisements) when it comes to management and communicating with customers.

Been with halifax for around 7 years now. Not had any real problems with them at all. I love the fact that they used their own records on how I run my finances when I run a soft search on what credit cards I could get. Nice to see loyalty still remains this day and age. Everywhere didn't want to know with me having zero credit history (due to living within my means and being sensible with money so never had to borrow) having a credit card finally at 28 had enabled me to furnish a cheap ish investment property allowing me to rent it out sooner rather than waiting that bit longer to save the extra. Staff are friendly in the branch. Can't see myself ever switching from halifax to be honest. They've been great for me. I would highly recommend them

Halifax are constantly destroying people’s lives by charging people with no money fees. It isn’t right to charge someone money for not having money. There is no logic. They use our money for investments and give us no compensation, instead they treat us badly. They talk over customers and treat us as if we are nothing. METRO bank is the future. They actually care about their customers. I have been a loyal customer of Halifax for 7 years and they charged me £150 for not having money and when my friend sent me £50 to bath and eat they took the money even though they are a million dollar company. They only way to stop this is to boycott Halifax and all Rothschilds banks. Customer service and reputation should be everything. Before this review they had 1.7/5 and that says enough.

Our mortgage term was coming to an end so I went online and went through the online process. All great I thought. It came to paying what should have been the new mortgage amount it remained the same. I phoned (waited over 30 minutes) and was told that Halifax had not receive the documents?? I had sent them back, but who knows where they ended up. I then refilled in the documents and sent them off. I just phoned today (waited 26 minutes) to double check everything had been received as the new rate was not showing online. This mess up by the bank has cost us £100 but do they care. I used to like Halifax but I would happily change to another bank after this fiasco.

Awful unethical bank ! Do not recommend Have trusted them with my banking and insurance needs for last 30 years. Realised recently that my home insurance is a complete rip off - my total buildings and contents has gone from £18 per month on 2012 to over £40 per month as I took my eye off the ball. This is almost £500 per year compared to open market rates of £170 per year. Almost 3 times over ! Please please check your insurance and anything else that is purchasable in he open market. I have overpaid almost £2000 in 5 years. Totally dodgy dealing on Halifax part !

I never thought I would be able to have such a bad experience with a bank. nightmare. They opened an account for me, and once I have it and I gave my details to get transfers and do my stuff and GOT PAID, they block the account and will not let me take my money out. Not even one pound, MY MONEY. With my ID and every thing, in the branch. Because they say someone has decided that my letting agreement was not enough proof of adrees and they needed a bill. And since I do have all my bills included and that is not possible (as thew new when they opened it) I can not take my money, I can not eat, not any thing....CRAZY. 3 hours at phone, pasing me one to another. And then from 2pm to 5pm in the branch, same. They let me put money and do every thing but the with that data but they will not let me take it out with the same.

Can't believe this bank. Everything is hard work. I have \ had bank accounts with First Direct, Santander, TSB and Nationwide. I am being told that it is healthy to keep moving your accounts around every couple of years. The offer of transferring your account to Halifax for £125 incentive just isn't sufficient. I decided to switch my account to Halifax and now all I want to do is switch it back to TSB as quick as possible. Instead of talking to you they suspend your account as they have a spelling mistake in the address. The branch staff take great pleasure in saying they can't help you. Don't even tell you to ring a particular number just answer we can't help you. When you get through to their online help desk they tell you to go to your branch! I think that I might open up an account with First Direct again as I rate them higher than any other bank.

Called today after checking my account and finding an N/A balance on all of my accounts with Halifax. I immediately rang the fraud department in a panic and went through all the security checks with a staff member. At one point I asked if there were technical problems on the site, to which the adviser stated that they could neither confirm nor deny that it was just a glitch, adding to my worry. When I stopped the security checks to ask if I had the right number (if the line was genuine, understandable in this situation) the adviser took offense and rudely ushered me off the line, suggesting that I call the number on the back of the card, which was not 24 hours! I cannot believe how unsympathetic the fraud service was to a customer fearing that their accounts had been drained. It was only after I checked the right section of the website I found out it was a maintenance issue, at no point did Halifax inform me of this!
Brilliant account options. Especially their Reward account & Ultimate Reward account! Great returns. Better than Lloyds. Glad we switched!

The letter I received basically branded me a liar. Phone the helpline, hmmm. Somewhere in the Philippines I think, difficult to understand. Suggested I could go to the Ombudsman. Thanks for nothing

Absolutely shocking!! Tried to open a bank account,went into branch to be told I would have to make an appointment to make an appointment!! sat waiting for ten minutes whilst staff were wandering about only to be told there were no appointments to open an account for 3 weeks!!.Went across the road to the Nationwide where their customer services were absolutely brilliant!! Opened an account with no trouble at all,was even offered coffee!! Rang Halifax customer services to complain and they just cut me off mid sentence after waiting 20 minutes for them to answer the phone!! Absolute joke I would recommend avoiding them at all cost.

I was with the Halifax for my mortgage for 20 years. The worst experience ever. Firstly I was sold an endowment for my house. Several years down the line the endowment wasn't working was sold an isa, a few years down the line this wasn't working either. It became apparent I was paying life insurance I'd never asked for, I took this up with Halifax on numerous occasions, no joy. I came in the branch in billingham to talk about releasing some equity in 2011 to be told by an advisor who chewed on sweets the whole time my house was only worth £50,000 even though I knew my house was worth £90,000. I complained but heard nothing. Just a total shambles, admit your mistakes, pay for them and move on. I'm glad i'm now with the Coventry and couldn't be happier, I hate the Halifax and couldn't wait to leave

Jump through the hoops online, get to last page, computer says 'no', must either fill in the form and post it off, or phone. Look at form, right at the bottom says closing the account needs to be done by phone. Phone several times during the day, each time I get a "high demand, 20 minutes wait"' recorded message. Oh, what a coincidence! - I really really hate being lied to, even by a robot. Anyone would think that Halifax know their interest rates are rubbish, and are making it as difficult as (in)humanely possible to close the account. Next step - off tomorrow to their local branch to tell it like it is (but then I think the poor saps who work there know already). Customer service - somewhat South of Ryanair! Beyond abyssmal.

Customer for 10 years with only one problem. 10 years of loyalty and i've only experienced one issue, when they cancelled my card after a suspicious payment and wouldn't re-open the account, despite me warning them prior to my trip. I ended up missing my flight as i couldn't pay for transport, and had to wait several days for a room-mate to send my credit card from the UK. I was left nearly £1000 out of pocket (which is ironically more than my account held when halifax closed it) and nearly lost my job as a result of the delay. The suspicious payment was a result of me ordering something online to my UK address :S Along with the above they have terrible interest rates, but the online banking is easy to use and the branches are pretty helpful.

On 27th September I spent an hour opening an on-line ISA SAVER account with Halifax. I received two emails advising me that the account had been opened and giving me sortcode and Account number. The next morning 28/09/2017 I received a telephone call on my mobile from a lady who said she was calling to check my details, I beleve her name was Ingrid her tel.No. 08001697762, she explained that the account had been Set up in the wrong name and wrong address, but she couldn't explain why this happened ( my previous surname was SPOOR, previous address in 2010 was 10 PRIORY STREET GU147HX) She advised me to visit my local HALIFAX branch - Queensmead,Farnborough,Hampshire, she said that they would correct the incorrect name & address. I did visit the branch today and was told by the assistant that I needed to make an appointment and furthermore she didn't know why I was advised to visit the branch as they could not correct the name and address, basically she was most un-helpful (did not get her name). By now I had lost all confidence and asked this assistant to close the account 11 03 06 11705062 which she agreed to do. Altogether a very worrying and stressful experience - I think I will have to seek a more efficient and helpful Company to handle my savings . NIL OUT OF TEN HALIFAX !!!!!!

I am a very unhappy customer right now. I have been banking with you Bank for 6 years and I must say your one of the worst banks for customer service skills. I am in a dispute at this current time we’re I am being threatened and discriminated against for my illness.a person who suffers from anxiety and depression you making them low when your not listening to my complaint and your calling me a liar and threatening to close my account if I carry on to complain. Your over the phone staff are rude and unhelpful and. Don’t know which department to put you through and then you get put into a vicious cycle and kept on the phone to long. Your so called customer complaints management team. Call you liars and don’t want to help and they lie and say we have sent you a correspondence to your postal address and in fact I never receive them. They ask you how you would like to resolve this and you say what you would like from Halifax to fix the issue and then your penalised for what you have asked for and they send a generated letter out sometimes saying the case is closed and you will have to refer you Complaint to the Financial ombudsman service. You work on figures and you don’t want complaints to make you look bad so when you don’t like what is being said you try and fob them off with something else All the complaints mangers I have spoken to are unprofessional saki and unhelpful and tell you what you want to hear and not will happen. You get the same complaint manger I swear if you complain. Long waiting times on phones and long times waiting to be put through different departments. Under The Consumer Rights Act 2015 it states that a service should be carried out with reasonable care and skill, in a reasonable time you have not meet any of this and your Making my health worse by making it going on longer than expected.

I am very frustrated and disappointed with Halifax. I opened years back a saving account for my son, at that time it was Bank of Scotland. Years passed and my son grow up and start to save his pocket money on it. Then he opened a current account with Halifax as I advised him which is very regretable. When I went to them at Wandsworth branch with my passport and driving licence as a proof of my ID, so I can transfer the money to my son account as he went to the university, they refused , and said y id is not identical, even the person I met there treated me with a lot of disrespect and offered me a leaflet to explain how to complain . I left the branch angry angry and frustrated and regreting to have at all accounts in this bank , so please avoid

Absolute joke. got locked out of my online banking after changing mobiles. should just be a staight through process but their telepohone system auto attendant does not work properly so will not under stand codes which i have typed in! several calls made through to them, they do answer quickly but nobody has a clue on whats going on. called again today after recieveing the letter to get back online, the system was having issues apparently so was going to be transferred through and then the call drops, nobody cares to call me back. still sat here with no online banking.

Wish I could give zero stars. Checked my credit card eligibility and result was 95% acceptance so I decided to apply for it. Completed the whole process and now i am stuck on processing application for about 30 minutes which says not to cancel or refresh the page as it could effect my credit rating. I tried to call the customer service to find out whats happening and the answering machine says 30 minutes wait before i can talk to somebody. Should I just stay in front of the computer for the rest of my life to see the decision or Just cancel? Come on Halifax i thought you were a big bank who would take matters seriously and actually care about the customers. Really disappointed and just canceled the application.

I am very frustrated and annoyed with Customer service experience I received today with Halifax credit card. The representative - Jack placed my card on ID verification simply because he has the power to do so. I was banking with Halifax with many years where my mortgage is with them too yet this mindless customer service agent Jack refused to proceed with balance transfer, his manner is appalling and not sure why he is still in the job. I demanded to speak to a Manager but they purposely did not transfer the call. Manager name is Sylvia and looks like she has no customer service skills to speak to a customer who has been treated badly by one of her colleagues. Someone in higher authority must find this Jack and Sylvia - my call to them was at 13:29 pm today and remove them from customer service as I do not wish another person being harassed by them in future. I do not want another person to go through the same hassle that I am going through with them.
